API keys allow you to securely connect your application, website, CRM, or other systems to the TXTImpact SMS platform. Follow the steps below to create a new API key.
Step 1: Log in to Your Account
Log in to your TXTImpact account:
Step 2: Navigate to Integrations
From the left-hand menu:
- Click Integrations
- Click the API Access tab at the top
You will see the Manage User API Keys screen.
Step 3: Select a User
At the top of the page:
- Use the Select User dropdown
- Choose the user for whom you want to generate the API key
Tip: API keys are created per user. Permissions depend on the selected user’s access level.
Step 4: Generate a New API Key
- Click GENERATE NEW API KEY (top right)
- Enter a name for the key (example:
CRM Integration,Website Alerts,Zapier) - Confirm the creation
Your new API key will appear in the list.
Step 5: Copy and Store Your API Key Securely
- The API key may be partially masked for security.
- Copy it and store it safely.
- Do not share it publicly.
Important: Treat your API key like a password.
Managing API Keys
From the same screen you can:
- Search existing keys
- Delete a key (if compromised or no longer needed)
- View the Created On date
If an API key is deleted, it immediately becomes invalid.
Best Practices
- Create separate API keys for different integrations
- Delete unused keys
- Regenerate keys immediately if exposed
- Restrict user permissions properly
