Workflow Prompts allow you to collect responses from users via SMS/MMS. There are three types of questions you can use in a workflow:
📘 1. Free Text Prompt
These allow users to respond with anything — useful for capturing names, emails, or open-ended feedback.
- Use case: “What’s your full name?” or “Any comments or suggestions?”
- Tip: Be specific in your question. Avoid vague prompts like “Please reply.”
Example:
Hi %SubscriberName%, please reply with your email address so we can follow up with you.
📘 2. Multiple Choice Prompts
Ask users to pick one option from a list (up to 10 options). Response keys can be alphabetical or numerical.
- Use case: “Which service are you interested in? A) SMS Alerts, B) Reminders, C) Polls”
- Tip: Keep your options short and instruct clearly. Tell users how to respond.
Example:
What type of update do you prefer?
A) Daily Summary
B) Weekly Digest
C) Only Critical Alerts
Reply with A, B, or C.
📘 3. Scaling Prompts
Let users rate something on a scale (e.g., 1–5, 1–10). Great for surveys and satisfaction scores.
- Use case: “How likely are you to recommend us? (1 = Not likely, 5 = Very likely)”
- Tip: Tell users what the ends of the scale mean to reduce confusion.
Example:
On a scale of 1 to 5, how would you rate your experience today?
1 = Poor, 5 = Excellent
🧠 Pro Tips for Building Prompts
- 📸 Use MMS: Add images (e.g., product photos, event flyers) to make your questions more engaging.
- 🔗 Use Trackable Links: Insert short links that can be tracked for click engagement.
- 🏷 Personalize with Merge Tags: Use
%SubscriberName%,%Custom1%, etc. to personalize each message. - 🗂 Use clear response formats: Avoid “Reply YES” or “Reply OK” unless you specifically check for those responses.
Tip: Always preview your question using the “Message Preview” area before saving to ensure proper formatting and message length. Preview is available once Question is saved.
